Commonwealth Games 2006

SSL’s Australian agent, Australian Seating Systems Pty (ASS) were awarded the contract to supply the majority of the temporary seating for the XV111 Melbourne Commonwealth Games 2006.

Contracted by ASS, SSL sent 22 containers of equipment to Melbourne and provided seated facilities at their second Commonwealth Games.

Further 2006 contracts in progress include The Roundhouse Theatre, London and The National Stadium, Wembley.

Gleneagles/PGA European Tour Golf Tournament

18th Green all seated spectator arena grandstands with rear vomitory access to suit the tournament sponsors product branding. The grandstands are installed on an SSL vari-level underframe to suit uneven ground conditions.

Antwerp Belgium

An aluminum demountable seating system designed by SSL to suit the special requirements of the Antwerp Sportpaleis. This seating system has different bay widths to accommodate various obstacles and provides vehicular access under the stand for music and pop concerts. The rear support legs sit on a permanent Veladrome cycle track via an SSL ladder system.

SSL say that there is still a misconception in the seating industry that temporary seating means unsightly scaffold, but the reality is very different. The days of rusting scaffold and bolted bleachers are over: today's temporary and demountable structures incorporate the latest thinking in galvanised steel, extruded aluminium and hydraulic systems to produce stands with the appearance and performance of permanent or temporary arenas.
